California Gold Country

We are returning to this great location again this year. Co-teaching with Frank Bevans (an outstanding commercial and landscape photographer) proved to be fun and exciting for everyone. We had a great time last year in this relatively “quiet” area of historical Gold Country and found so many neat and varied areas to photograph, that we knew it was a DEFINITE to put on our schedule for 2016.

From the American River to high mountain lakes in the Sierras, this workshop will explore the very special scenic landscapes of the northern California gold country. Using historic Georgetown and Garden Valley as our base camp, we will explore the American River’s scenic waterways, visit the fall colors of the Hope Valley, Silver Lake, Caples Lake and Woods Lake, and capture many “back alley” historical landmarks and landscapes.

Nearby locations: the wineries and farms of the Gold Country and Apple Hill, the North and South Forks of the American River (world renowned photo ops of this kayaker’s paradise), the town of Placerville and old mining facilities.

This is a great opportunity to photograph a wide variety of subjects, landscapes, color, water, and cool historic landmarks. Plus we will have access to Frank’s incredible studio to explore and create still life and portrait work with studio lighting and hand painting techniques.
