Bosque Del Apache and White Sands National Monument, New Mexico: November 14 – November 18, 2012

White Sands
Describing this workshop/tour is not easy, but well worth the effort—traveling to two different exotic locations. We spend a day and a half in Bosque Del Apache where thousands of Sand Hill Cranes, Snow Geese and other migratory birds stop over on their migration route. One just cannot imagine the experience of photographing the thousands of birds flying either en masse or small groups across the lovely landscape of this area of New Mexico. The kaleidoscope of color, bird calls, wings flapping is just a “must experience”to photograph. We then move on to spend the remainder of the workshop in White Sands National Monument –which is in exact opposition to the Bosque. The quiet, calm of the white sand dunes with reflective light capturing the soft hues of pink, violet, purple, blue and the occasional Yucca majestically framed against the towering dunes is a whole new experience. We obtain special permits to allow us entry into the dunes and experience the rising sun as it plays across the vastness of this area. This is a workshop that is off the beaten path and well worth the experience.
